Is raw corn starch safe to eat?


I ate raw cornstarch, is that safe?


You will likely be ok but it's generally not advisable to eat raw flours because they can carry small amounts of food borne pathogens. As an example, up to 3% of wheat flours have been found to have bacteria that can cause food borne illness (that cooking/baking makes safe). That noted, corn starch more heavily processed than wheat and is much more unlikely to contain the pathogens.
